Another film from BBC2’s 2008 White Season. Unlike the fictional drama ‘White Girl’, this appears in documentary style. It is difficult to assess the aim of the film makers, or the aim of the BBC in showing it.

The editing is poorly structured, relying on random clips of several Barking residents talking about their changing surroundings. It is surprising how and why the BBC approved this for broadcast.

Much of the footage is hastily shot, not colour-corrected, and the interviewer’s questions sound vague, unplanned and aimless. There appear to be no conclusions to this film. It’s doubtful the BBC would ever repeat the items from their oddly-described ‘White Season’.
